Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 17, 2026

LingoMate ("LingoMate," "we," "us," or "our") operates the LingoMate mobile application (the "App"), including LingoMate Offline Translations, available on the Apple App Store. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the App.

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to information processed through the App and related support channels (such as email). It does not apply to third-party websites, services, or apps that we do not control, even if they are linked from the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide

Depending on how you use the App, you may provide:

  • Text you enter for translation (home screen, chat, and related features).
  • Voice input when you use voice translation (processed for speech recognition and translation).
  • Images you select or capture for image translation and optical character recognition (OCR).
  • Language and app preferences (for example, source/target languages, app interface language, and theme).
  • Support communications if you contact us (for example, email content and any information you choose to include).

We do not require you to create an account to use the App.

2.2 Information collected automatically

When you use the App, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain technical and usage information, such as:

  • Device type, operating system version, and general device settings.
  • App version, feature usage, and interaction events (for example, screens viewed and translation activity at an aggregated level).
  • Diagnostic and crash data (for example, crash logs and performance information).
  • Advertising identifiers and ad interaction data on the free plan (see Section 6).
  • Approximate or general location derived from IP address where permitted by your device settings and applicable law (we do not require precise location for core translation features).

2.3 Information from Apple

If you purchase a subscription or restore purchases, Apple processes payment and provides us with subscription status and related transaction metadata (such as product identifier and entitlement status). We do not receive your full payment card number from Apple.

2.4 Permissions

The App may request access to:

PermissionPurpose
MicrophoneVoice translation and speech recognition
Speech recognitionConverting speech to text
CameraCapturing images for image translation
Photo librarySelecting images for image translation

You can manage these permissions in your device Settings. Some features will not work without the relevant permission.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve translation and related features (text, voice, image, and chat).
  • Download, manage, and use language models (including offline models where supported).
  • Enforce free-tier limits (such as daily translation caps), subscription entitlements, and optional rewarded advertising to unlock additional usage.
  • Process and validate subscriptions and restore purchases through Apple.
  • Monitor performance, fix bugs, and improve stability (including crash reporting).
  • Understand usage trends and improve the App.
  • Display advertising on the free plan and measure ad performance.
  • Respond to support requests and communicate about the App.
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights, users, and the public.

4. On-Device and Cloud Processing

LingoMate is designed to support translation with on-device processing where possible, including offline language models you download to your device.

Some features may involve processing on your device and/or secure transmission to third-party services (for example, translation, OCR, speech recognition, analytics, or ads). When data is sent for processing, it is used to perform the requested feature and is not retained longer than necessary for that purpose, except as described in Section 8 or required by our service providers’ policies.

Important: Do not submit sensitive personal information (such as health, financial, or government ID data) through the App unless you accept the risks of processing it for translation.

5. Legal Bases (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process personal data on the following bases, as applicable:

  • Contract: To provide the App and features you request.
  • Legitimate interests: To secure, improve, and analyze the App, prevent abuse, and show ads on the free plan (where permitted).
  • Consent: Where required for certain analytics, advertising, or optional permissions—you may withdraw consent through device settings or by contacting us.
  • Legal obligation: Where we must comply with applicable law.

6. Advertising

On the free plan, the App may show ads (including banner and rewarded video ads) through Google AdMob and related Google advertising services. Ad partners may use identifiers (such as Apple’s Identifier for Advertisers, where available and permitted) and other data to deliver, measure, and personalize ads according to your choices and applicable law.

You can limit ad tracking in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking (and related advertising settings on your device). Upgrading to a paid subscription removes ads as described in the App.

For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s ad technology partners.

7. Analytics and Crash Reporting

We use Firebase (Google) services, which may include Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, to understand usage and diagnose crashes. These services may collect device and usage information as described in Google’s Privacy Policy.

You can learn more about Firebase data practices at Firebase Privacy and Security.

8. Third-Party Services

The App integrates third-party technologies that may process information according to their own policies, including:

9. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:

  • With service providers who help us operate the App (hosting, analytics, crash reporting, advertising, and translation-related processing), under contractual obligations to protect data and use it only for our instructions.
  • With Apple for in-app purchases and subscription management.
  • For legal reasons if we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
  • In connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to appropriate safeguards.

10. Data Retention

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required by law. For example:

  • Analytics and crash data are retained according to our providers’ default retention periods unless we configure shorter periods.
  • Support emails are retained as needed to resolve your inquiry and for our records.

You may delete locally stored data (such as downloaded language models) through the App or by uninstalling the App.

11. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. International Transfers

We and our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for international transfers of personal data.

  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete certain information.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at support@sssoftech.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice (for example, in the App). Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy, to the extent permitted by law.
